Our 5 top tips for networking
Becoming a skilled networker benefits your career in many ways: raising awareness of your business, gaining you new opportunities and giving you the chance to get advice from other successful people in business.
At Juice Networking we offer a friendly and supportive environment for professionals to come along and meet other like-minded individuals. If you’re interested in finding out more, you’re welcome to come along for a free try-out session. Here are our 5 tips to help you get the most out of your networking.
1. Be friendly, open and take an interest in others
This may sound obvious, but those just beginning their networking journey may feel pressured to impress. Asking questions and showing a genuine interest in others not only helps you learn about each member individually, but also makes others warm to you. So start off with an informal chit chat and save the sales spiel for later down the line.
2. Make contact after the event
After a promising exchange it’s important to make contact with your new acquaintances. Connecting with them on LinkedIn is often the easiest way to go about this, but you can always drop them an email or contact them on social media if you’d prefer. This furthers your interaction and solidifies your professional relationship. It will also keep you at the front of their mind for any opportunities that arise in your area.
3. Give referrals and introduce others if you can
Although Juice is a no pressure environment for you to come along and get to know others, giving out referrals where you can is always encouraged. This will score you brownie points and make others more likely to return the favour in future.
4. Relax and enjoy getting to know everyone
People are more likely to want to work with people they like, so making friends is a huge part of successful networking. At Juice we encourage this by organising fun social events and regular nights out to promote bonding outside of a more formal environment.
5. Reach further than your industry
Whilst networking within your industry can be beneficial, stepping outside your industry and networking is equally valuable. Those working in other industries may have connections that can offer you referrals or may be open to collaboration in future. Juice promotes this by restricting memberships to just one member from each industry - so join today to be the representative of your industry.
